Chronic prostatitis, (an enlarged prostate), is common in men over the age of 50. The condition is not necessarily cancerous, (often it is not), so I would not make that assumption without a proper diagnosis.

Do be aware that lifestyle choices can trigger flareups resulting in burning and discomfort. Herbs, spices and tobacco products can result in urinary tract discomfort for males with sensitivities. Copper and zinc deficiencies can also trigger prostate/urinary tract issues, but do not take supplements except under the advice of your physician. Excesses can cause issues as well.

Benign prostate enlargement can be exacerbated by any of the following: tobacco, alcohol, caffeine (tea/ coffee), spices, tomatoes (acidic foods), high fat foods, chlorinated/fluoridated water and non-prescription cold and allergy medications. Ample fluid intake is recommended, (distilled or spring water).

The excessive chain smoking is the likely cause of your prostate/urinary tract irritation and should be eliminated. It is not necessarily related to cancer but could be and the condition should be positively diagnosed by your physician as a precautionary measure. You may be experiencing benign prostate issues that your lifestyle choices are negatively effecting. If the discomfort is not due to cancer, do be aware that heavy smoking will increase your risk of developing cancer. Lifestyle changes may be in order.
