How do I find out if I am mentioned in my Grandfather's will? My mother is the executor of my Grandfather's will. It has been more than 60 days since his passing. My mother and I don't talk or get along all that great, as a result I don't feel comfortable asking about the will in general. (I am also one that feels that such questions can be in bad taste) But I AM curious to know if I was mentioned in the Will as my Grandfather was a wealthy man. Is there a way to find out if I am mentioned in the will either anonymously or otherwise as not to create a family feud over his passing? |

The most discreet way of checking the matter out for yourself, is to personally VISIT the county courthouse - probate section - of the county in which your grandmother lived. There, you will find an index to the all of the wills ever probated or those currently in probate, by which you can then locate the probate file for your grandmother and read the will yourself.
I'm not a big fan of calling court clerks, especially in small communities, as they tend to be gossip mills. And, in large cities, they tend to be snippy and not very helpful. To save you a trip, there might be an index of probate cases online by which you could at least know that the will has been entered into probate.
