I need someones advice

I am 21 years old and my husband and i have been trying to conceive our first child. Well it didn't work for a little over a year and a half and i figured it may have something to do with my weight right, so i start working out and i have lost 20-30 pounds so far. So what i'm having a problem with is that i should not have started my period until today (April 12, 2011). Well a week ago i started having this brown discharge, like old blood at the end of your period. It started on Monday April 4th and ended yesterday April 11. This is very unusual for me because i never have my period early and it's never like that, which i'm not really considering that to be my period either. Anyway for the last 3 weeks i've been getting nauseous alot and vomiting, my nipples are really sore and i'm always really tired after doing the smallest things. I have taken pregnancy tests at home but they have come back negative, and what i'm worried about with that is that according to my family history a home pregnancy test isn't very trust worthy. MY mother didn't know that she was pregnant with me until she was 4 months along because every test she took came back negative also. I'm just worried that i may be pregnant and i just don't know it or that something else is wrong. I need some advice on this please because i don't have insurance or the money to pay to go to the doctor so i thought i would see what some other people thought first before i pani

Go to Planned Parenthood or a free clinic in your area and have your blood drawn for a pregnancy test. The blood test is more accurate earlier in pregnancy than the urine test. I believe Planned Parenthood Clinics do the pregnancy test either for free or for a nominal cost. If it turns out you are not pregnant, then you may want to have an exam. PP also offers other services (such as exams) at a nominal cost. Your area may also have other free Women's health care services. You need to check with a social worker in your area. Blessings.

You don't have insurance! Than what the heck were you doing for a year and a half trying to have a baby?

You should have gotten a job that has insurance so you could pay for the baby. Now my taxes are going to go towards your welfare when I'm trying to raise children of my own and pay for everything out of my pocket.

You may be pregnant; you certainly have some of the symptoms of pregnancy. I'm confused as to why a home pregnancy test wouldn't work for you, though. If you've got enough HcG in your blood, it should show up on the test strip. Period. (No pun intended!) But I agree with the first responder in that you should get a professional pregnancy test to be absolutely sure.

Weight loss can also cause a change in your cycle. Especially if you've altered your diet or begun to exercise more (which you've no doubt been doing). Consulting a doctor is really the safest route for you at this point. You wouldn't want money to stand in the way of your health, or that of your unborn child's, would you?

If you are not pregnant, I advise you to wait on trying to conceive until you can insure yourself. I had a baby last year and the hospital bill was thousands of dollars. Not to mention the monthly wellness visits leading up to the birth (which really are important for the wellbeing of you and the child).

First of all, your period may be fluctuating due to your weight loss and exercise.

If you are nauseous, have breast tenderness, and are overly tired, these are symptoms of pregnancy, however, usually home pregnancy tests are correct, especially if they are negative. Since you say your mom had issues with home pregnancy tests not reading correctly, you really need to get to a doctor.

Most towns have a county health department, and at least where I live, the care is free. Find the phone number for your's and get in to see a doctor.

Have you tried to use the home pregnancy tests first thing in the morning when it is said the hormone should be at its highest?

Otherwise, I completely agree that you need to be seen by medical personnel for a blood draw.

Go buy a First Response Early Pregnancy Test and take it first thing in the morning. Those are the most sensitive tests on the market with the best results. It's quite possible you are pregnant and it's just not picking it up this early.

Even if you have no money for an exam, you need one to see what's going on. Call 1-800-230-PLAN and find a Planned Parenthood Clinic near you. They offer exams on sliding scales and do more than offer birth control.

Here are some suggestions for if you are not pregnant to help you. A lot of times when women have trouble conceiving, its simply a missed timing thing. I am going to offer some suggestions on helping your body, learning YOUR body and knowing his too. To help your body out...make sure that you are eating correctly, taking your vitamins and taking care of your body. Many women don't have the chance to get their bodies ready for being pregnant. Chasteberry (found in fertility teas) and soy (replace regular milk with it and try soy snack bars) can assist with naturally boosting ovulation. Consider cutting all artificial colors, flavors and preservatives out of your diet. (Check out The Feingold Diet). Also add in raspberry tea and grapefruit juice to your diet. They help stimulate ovulation.

The other issue is KNOWING your body and HIS. In any month, there is only a 20% chance of getting pregnant. It makes you wonder how some of us seem to breathe and get that way. Sperm can live an average of 72 hours. Women ovulate around day 14 with day one being the first day of your period. So if you had intercourse 3 days before day 14 or within those days your chances go up. Your egg can be fertilized over a 12-24 hour period. Now ovulation here is an AVERAGE. I ovulate on day 10 or 11. Had I followed that, I would have missed every month. So consider taking your basal body temperature so you KNOW, charting your cervical positioning and cervical mucus. These are all signs that tell us when and if you are ovulating. They also tell you if your cycle is off AFTER you ovulate which can prevent implantation and be the signs of other fertility problems. To learn how to chart these things, look up Fertility Plus's website.

Another thing that reduces your chances is that sperm quality and maturity reduces if you have sex more than once in about a 24 hour period by 30% or more. Once your period ends, start having intercourse once every 36 hours from the day your period ends until around day 16 to make sure that you have passed ovulation. That way sperm are constantly there and will hopefully meet up with their one 24 hour chance of your egg. Chart for a few months and see if you might have just been missing the timing. Once you have 3-6 months of charts, if you are still not pregnant, have had him take a sperm test which are available over the counter and if you can, go see your GYN with your charts. Those give them a wealth of information that they can interpret and sometimes have an answer without major testing. Good luck and best wishes.

Thank you all for the help i really appreciate it. I did stop bleeding on Monday but for some odd reason i have started again. It isn't bad just enough for me to see it when i go to the bathroom and this has really gotten me worried. I have made a doctors appointment and i'm hoping that it goes well. I do have insurance it just doesn't start until the beginning of next month and i've had insurance up until this month so i'm sorry that i didn't mention that since someone seemed to have a problem with me not having any. Something else that i wanted to mention was that i did take a home pregnancy test this morning and it did come out saying positive but i'm not getting excited about it just yet.

Answer 8/13 - Submitted 4/13/2011

Okay, if you are bleeding and have a positive test, you need to see the doctor NOW. Please call or go into the ER. That's not something to mess around with.

Answer 9/13 - Submitted 4/13/2011

When i took the test this morning and realized that i was bleeding again i actually called the ER and asked them what i should do and unfortunately they said that there was nothing that they could do. They told me to go to my family doctor, the people that work at the hospital don't really care unless your dying i think. But i have decided that instead of waiting for my appointment with my doctor i'm just going to go up there tomorrow morning if the bleeding doesn't stop. Hopefully nothing is wrong and that hpt didn't lie to me.

Tyeager, there really IS nothing they can do to stop this if it's a miscarriage but they still need to examine you and find out of the pregnancy seems to be viable or if there are other issues. This could be a tubal pregnancy. It's possible you have placenta previa. You might have an infection of some kind that is causing the bleeding and this CAN be treated. Please call your doctor. Tell them you have a positive test but have started bleeding and let them make a determination. It's possible to bleed or spot and a pregnancy be fine but unfortunately, 1 out of 5 pregnancies do end in miscarriage. Someone needs to see you and I would not advise waiting until tomorrow.

I think you maybe right, i was thinking about it and i talked to my husband and we have decided to go to the ER, there has to be someone there that will do something especially since i did take the test and it was positive. I really appreciate your help on this.

Answer 12/13 - Submitted 4/13/2011

Please let me know how you are. Hang in there.

Answer 13/13 - Submitted 4/13/2011

I will definitely let you know whats going on when i find out, i am going to the doctor at 9:30 tomorrow morning tho because there are probably 100 people in the ER right now and they told me that it would probably be 3-4 hours before they could take me back. But as soon as i find out whats going on i'll let you know.
