What is the average family Size for a American family? |
Answer 1/1 - Submitted 12/28/2010
The last released US Census statistics for the census done in the year 2000, showed the average size family in the United States to be 3.14. That means the average number of people in one American family is just over 3 members.
Since the census is conducted only every 10 years, the Census Bureau also does 5 year projections. The estimate for the size of a US family for the years 2005-2009 was 3.19, slightly more than the previous census. The results of the latest census done in 2010 will be released in February 2011.
