Question

Asked 2/10/2010

Why did Jesus call himself "Son of Man"?

Jesus was divine and human. He is the son of God which I understand. He is the son of Joseph as genealogy records it. Is this because he is the son of Joseph?

It is because he was the son of a man. He was fully God and fully human at the same time, not some kind of spiritual entity.

Interesting question. Technically, he was the son of a woman, and, according to the New Testament accounts of his virgin birth, not the biological son of a man. I presume it is meant as being fully human, as in being a son of mankind.

Son of Man refers to Jesus being a human being.

Joseph was not the father of Jesus though, God is..
